Net curtains and its usage

History and types of net curtains:

Net curtains are semi-transparent, and translucent window curtains that are usually made with a then meshed fabric. They are also known as sheer curtains. The material used to make them has a clear and crystalline quality to it. It is perfect for use when you want the sunlight to stream in through your window while at the same time it allows privacy. They do not have good insulation power, so they are best used with a regular curtain. They were introduced in the 1700’s and initially made of silk lace. However these days, net curtains are made of polyester. There are different types of net curtains such as Voile, Cafe and Jardiniere net curtains. The voile curtains are woven and are sold in different colors. It offers the same purpose as that of a typical net curtain and are made of cotton. The café net curtains are used to cover the lower half of the window. It is used in kitchen areas and the rod used is placed within the frame of the window. The Jardineiere net curtain are full length curtains and are arch shaped.

Measuring for net curtains:

In order to figure out the drop length, measure from the top of the window rod to the exact point where you want the curtain to end. The net curtains usually come in standard drop sizes. This will give you a fair idea of the amount of net fabric that has to be purchased. The fullness that is required will be twice the measurement of the width of the window.
